The SCO, established on June 15, 2001, in Shanghai, comprises nine member states: India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan. The organization focuses on regional cooperation in political, economic, and security matters. Jaishankar's participation is seen as a significant diplomatic step, potentially paving the way for dialogue and cooperation in the region.
