There’s a certain joy to a job well done. Richa Chadha, who recently wrapped up the shoot of Six Suspects, is content in the knowledge that the screen adaptation has turned out as gripping as its original material — the Vikas Swarup novel of the same name.

Her biggest high is that Six Suspects enabled her to collaborate with director Tigmanshu Dhulia. “Tigmanshu is one of the finest directors we have. I always dreamt of working with him some day. He kept me on my toes. My co-actors Pratik Gandhi, Ashutosh Rana, Shashank Arora and Raghubir Yadav are all celebrated artistes,” says the actor.

The Disney+ Hotstar mystery thriller revolves around the murder of a politician’s son who, in turn, was acquitted in the murder case of a bartender. Chadha plays the investigating officer tasked to crack the case. Throwing light on her character, she adds, “My character is complex, a woman investigating officer who has to find her way in a male-dominated universe. The OTT format is [perfect] for the story — since the original book is a page-turner, it makes for great episodic cliffhangers.” The book, through its six central characters, gave a peek into the underbelly of contemporary India.
