Andy Murray put his singles disappointment to one side as he teamed up with brother Jamie to claim a doubles win at the World Tennis Tournament in Rotterdam last night.

The Scottish pair beat the French team of Julien Benneteau and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga 6-3, 6-3 in the first round, performing so strongly they did not face a single break point and wrapped up victory inside an hour.

He admitted after that match he may have returned to action too soon after his disappointment in the Australian Open final, where he lost to Novak Djokovic.

"I have to think about what it was," he told BBC Scotland. "You have to get the balance right, making sure you come to the tournament mentally feeling you are ready to win it and maybe I didn't feel like that."

Having made a late decision to enter the doubles event, initially it looked as though the Murrays would be denied an automatic place in the draw, which was already full.

However the withdrawal of Ernests Gulbis meant the Latvian and his Spanish partner Guillermo Garcia-Lopez were substituted by the brothers.

Murray and Murray go on to face India's Mahesh Bhupathi and Spain's Marcel Granollers in the quarter-finals of the ATP event.
