On February 13, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at Joint Base Andrews in Washington, D.C., for a two-day visit, amidst ongoing tensions over trade tariffs. Upon arrival, he headed to the Blair House, where he was warmly greeted by the Indian community living in the United States. The members of the Indian diaspora were excited and eager to welcome him. Before PM Modi's arrival, the Indian flag was proudly displayed in place of the US flag at Blair House, which is the official guest residence for visiting foreign dignitaries. The prime minister's arrival in Washington was met with a cheerful and enthusiastic reception. PM Modi will be staying at the Blair House throughout his visit to the US, which is scheduled to take place from February 12 to 13. Watch video for more details.

The Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia said they are responding to the crash and a large search and rescue operation is ongoing. U.S. Senator Jerry Moran from Kansas shared that the plane was coming from Kansas when it crashed. The airport confirmed that all flights were temporarily stopped while emergency teams worked on the incident. The National Transportation Safety Board is also gathering more details about what happened.

Fire Department confirmed the incident, and the Metropolitan Police Department shared on social media that a multi-agency search and rescue operation was underway. According to reports from WBAL, two bodies have been recovered so far. U.S. Senator Jerry Moran of Kansas also confirmed that the aircraft was inbound from Kansas when the crash occurred. In response to the emergency, all takeoffs and landings at the airport were halted late Wednesday while personnel addressed the situation. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has announced that it is gathering information to further investigate the cause of the crash. The incident has raised concerns, but authorities continue to work on the recovery and investigation.
