On August 14, 2024, the World Health Organization declared Mpox, previously known as Monkeypox, a global health emergency due to a surge in cases across Africa. The announcement came after a meeting of the UN health agency's emergency committee. Originally identified over 50 years ago in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Mpox virus has been endemic in the region for decades. Recently, a new variant of the clade 1 strain, known as clade 1b, has emerged and is spreading in eastern Congo and neighboring countries that previously had no cases. Swedish authorities reported a case of the clade 1 variant on Thursday, 15th August, marking the first detection of this strain outside Africa. The sea of devotees continues to swarm Ram Mandir in Ayodhya for Ram Lalla’s darshan. Meanwhile, a unique devotee also entered the Garbhagriha of Ayodhya Ram Mandir on January 24. A monkey entered the sanctum sanctorum of the newly inaugurated Ram Mandir on Jan 24. As per Hindu belief system, the monkey is considered to be the descendent of Lord Hanuman. Monkey went near Utsav idol, and left without creating any trouble, Ram Janmabhoomi Trust said. Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Trust said that at around 5.50 pm a monkey entered the Garbhagriha. The interesting incident happened days after the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony of the grand temple. Lakhs of devotees thronged Ram Mandir after the gates of the temple were opened for general public.
