12 deaf-mute students overcome odds to ace Maharashtra SSC exams
In the bustling streets of Kurla, 19-year-old Salik Kotwal is preparing for a life-changing moment. Once, even passing school seemed impossible to him. But today, as he gets ready for his SSC board exams, that dream of completing his higher education and securing a job in a corporate company feels closer than ever. Salik is among 12 students, all of whom are deaf and mute, taking on a challenge that once seemed too great. These young students are preparing to take their SSC exams, and for many of them, it’s the first time they will attempt the English language paper. For students like Salik, learning English has never been easy. But thanks to the incredible dedication of the teachers at TEACH (Training and Educational Centre for Hearing Impaired), these students have been given a chance they never had before. TEACH is a Mumbai-based charitable trust committed to providing higher education opportunities to students with hearing and speech impairments. Through patient, personalized training, they’ve helped these students learn English, a subject that many thought would remain out of their reach. Aman Sharma, co-founder of TEACH, discussed the hurdles and limitations that deaf and mute students face in accessing higher education. Mira Bhayandar: Dumper overturns after road collapse in Kashimira, Driver killed
A road collapse in the Mira Bhayandar Kashimira area, near Hotel Amar Palace, caused a serious accident on Wednesday night around 11 PM. The incident took place when a dumper, passing through the section of the road, overturned after the ground beneath it caved in. Tragically, the driver of the dumper died on the spot. Two other people in the vehicle were severely injured and have been taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Emergency teams from the Kashimira Police and fire brigade rushed to the scene to assist in managing the situation. The cause of the accident is believed to be poor construction quality of the road, which might have led to the collapse. To remove the overturned dumper from the pit, a crane was brought in. The Kashimira Police have registered an accidental death report (ADR) and are investigating the incident to determine the exact cause and hold responsible parties accountable. This tragic event has raised concerns about road safety and the quality of construction in the area.

Gokhale Bridge-Barfiwala flyover finally connected
The misalignment between Mumbai’s Barfiwala flyover and the new Gokhale bridge has been corrected. A few months ago - this bridge was a matter of embarrassment to the authorities and disappointment to the commuters. On February 26th, when the new Gokhale bridge was partially reopened to the public, it was a matter of joy to the Andheri residents. Until it was found out that there was a huge gap between the CD Barfiwala flyover and the new Gokhale bridge. The flyover and the Gokhale bridge did not align. This blunder was a big nemesis for people travelling from Juhu. They were forced to navigate through the SV road which is a hotspot of traffic jams. Today, the CD Barfiwala flyover connecting the new Gokhale bridge is officially reopening for the public to use after the realignment of the Gokhale Bridge-Barfiwala flyover and here is why it matters a lot to the Mumbaikars.
