Bomman and Bellie, the tribal couple who are the heroes behind Oscar-winning documentary ‘The Elephant Whisperers’ are in awe as Prime Minister Narendra Modi met them at Mudumalai Tiger Reserve on April 09. Bomman and Bellie shared their happiness and excitement after meeting the Prime Minister. “It is a great pleasure for us to meet him. He asked about our issues. I talked to him for all the tribals here. He agreed to address our issues,” said Bellie.

A large number of tourists thronged Mudumalai Theppakadu Elephant Camp to catch a glimpse of the baby elephant made famous by the Indian documentary film ‘Elephant Whisperers’, which won an Oscar in the ‘Best Documentary Short Film’ category on March 13. The film’s plot revolves around an elderly couple -- Bomman and Bellie, who adopts two orphan baby elephants in Tamil Nadu’s Mudumalai Tiger Reserve.
