World Environment Day 2024: Rochelle Rao and Keith Sequeira put on their gloves and dug out all the trash trapped in the sand at Mumbai’s Juhu beach, while their baby Josephine observed from afar. Rochelle’s frown and concern were visible as she pointed out the beautiful shells and the heaps of plastic around asking which of the two belonged there. “The beach is where our heart is. When I see the beach in this state, in my city, I feel like it's 100 percent my responsibility to do something about it. It's 10 minutes away from my house and it's a few hours of my time. Power couple and new parents Rochelle Rao and Keith Sequeira invited mid-day.com to join them for a cleanup drive at Mumbai's Juhu beach. The two asserted that this was the best way to celebrate Mother's Day 2024 with their baby girl Josephine tagging along for a meaningful cause. Keith said, "We wanted to introduce her at a very early age to what it means to be aware of your environment and sort of just sort of inculcate it. It's not a serious thing. It's just like fun, but it's a very serious issue. All of these issues, when you have a child become way more real to you because you're like, 'what is the world that I have brought my child into?' Four minor boys aged between 12 and 16 were feared drowned after five children who were sitting on the edge of the jetty at Juhu Koliwada, near Juhu beach, were washed away in a high tide on Monday evening. According to civic body officials, the minors hailed from Vakola and were on a visit to the beach. Officials also said that one boy was rescued by local fishermen and other residents. The rescued boy is said in a stable condition and was taken to the police station for further investigations. Authorities in Mumbai on Tuesday said that the rescuers have found the bodies of two of the four boys. Coastguard chopper was seen while the rescue operation for remaining two boys is still ongoing.
