Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and other political leaders paid tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary.

Taking to Twitter, PM Modi said he will be remembered for his fierce resistance to the colonial rule.
"Today, on Parakram Diwas, I pay homage to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and recall his unparalleled contribution to India's history. He will be remembered for his fierce resistance to colonial rule," PM Modi said in a tweet.
"Deeply influenced by his thoughts, we are working to realise his vision for India," he said.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah paid tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary and saluted his courage in fighting the British.

“With his unique leadership ability, Netaji organised the people and launched an armed movement for freedom by forming ‘Azad Hind Fauj’. The whole country salutes his courage and struggle. Today, remembering Netaji on his 126th birth anniversary, I congratulate the countrymen on ‘Parakram Diwas’,” Shah said in a tweet in Hindi.
Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur on Sunday said that the Britishers were afraid of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose who had left the Indian Civil Service (ICS) to join the freedom struggle.
"Netaji left ICS and dedicated himself to the country's freedom struggle. Netaji stood alone in front of the Britishers. Britishers said they were not afraid of Mahatma Gandhi. Britishers were afraid of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. There were several freedom fighters on Bengal's soil so the Britishers had to move to Delhi," Thakur said while addressing the youth at the 'Yuvotsav 2023, Swavalambi Bharat Abhiyan' here.
Thakur also stressed that it is the responsibility of the youth to fight against those trying to "murder democracy."
"Many freedom fighters took birth on this land. If you can free this land from Britishers, you can also free this land from those who are murdering democracy. You have to save the name of Bengal," said Thakur.
The Congress party also paid tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose on his birth anniversary with Rahul Gandhi saying his courage and patriotism still inspires every Indian to protect and preserve the freedom of the country.

In a tweet in Hindi, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said, "Tributes to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, former president of Indian National Congress, founder of Azad Hind Fauj and our idol, on his 126th birth anniversary."
"Netaji's proclamation of 'Jai Hind' and 'Tum Mujhe Khoon Do, Main Tumhe Azadi Dunga' awakened everyone to true devotion to the motherland," he said.
In a tweet, Rahul Gandhi said, "My humble tributes to the great freedom fighter, Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, whose courage and patriotism still inspires every Indian to protect and preserve the freedom of our great country."
The Congress, from its official Twitter handle, said, "Millions of salutations on the birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose, a great leader of the freedom struggle and the one who ignited the spirit of freedom in the hearts of crores of Indians by giving the slogan 'Tum Mujhe Khoon Do, Main Tumhe Azadi Dunga'."
The Modi government is observing January 23 as ‘Parakram Diwas’ to commemorate Bose.
Born on January 23, 1897, Netaji played a crucial role in India's freedom movement.
Subhas Chandra Bose established the Azad Hind Fauj. While there is a controversy over Bose's death in a plane crash in Taipei on August 18, 1945, the central government had in an RTI (Right to Information) in 2017 confirmed that he had died in the incident.
