The Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) wants to change the Constitution, and warned that the "country will rise" if that happens, the PTI reported.

The Central agencies had become "servants"of the BJP, he said at a rally at Dharashiv in central Maharashtra, adding that after the results on June 4, those who "troubled" his party men will be made to "pay with interest," according to the PTI.
"The BJP wants to change the Constitution. The day they try to change the Constitution, the entire country will rise (against the attempt)," Uddhav Thackeray said, as per the PTI.
Uddhav Thackeray also hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his remark that Pakistan was eager to make Congress leader Rahul Gandhi India's next PM, stating that none of the INDIA bloc leaders had gone and "shared a cake" with Nawaz Sharif, the news agency reported on Saturday.
The Shiv Sena (UBT) chief was apparently referring to PM Modi's surprise visit to Pakistan in 2015 for a meeting with his then counterpart Nawaz Sharif.
After the INDIA alliance government comes to power, GST on seeds, pesticides and agricultural equipment will be scrapped, the GST regime will be reformed, and tax terrorism will be stopped, said Uddhav Thackeray, the former Maharashtra chief minister.

Amid ongoing Lok Sabha elections 2024, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Friday attacked the BJP claiming its Hindutva is "gaumutradhari" (regressive), while his party's Hindutva was reformist, reported news agency PTI.
Addressing a Lok Sabha elections 2024 rally in Kankavali in Ratnagiri-Sindhudurg district, his second this week, Thackeray accused the Centre of "looting" Maharashtra.
Uddhav Thackeray said when INDIA alliance comes to power, he will ensure the lost glory of the state is reclaimed, reported PTI.
"BJP's Hindutva is gaumutradhari. Our Hindutva is reformist," Thackeray said.
His remarks come after Union Home Minister Amit Shah's blistering attack at Ratnagiri earlier in the day.
Amit Shah had asked if the chief of the "nakli" Shiv Sena can mention freedom fighter and Hindutva ideologue V D Savarkar in his speeches, reported PTI.
