Pune Police have apprehended a 17-year-old kid for allegedly attempting to run over a woman with his car following a violent altercation, officials said on Monday. The incident occurred on Saturday in Vadgaon Ghenand hamlet in the Alandi district, and it has generated comparisons to a similar instance from May 19, when a juvenile driving a Porsche collided with a motorbike in Pune's Kalyani Nagar, killing two IT professionals, reported PTI.

In the prior accident, the juvenile driver is still in a correctional facility, while his parents, both doctors and an alleged intermediary are in jail.

Meanwhile, in the current Pune accident case, a video circulating on social media showed the car being driven recklessly and hitting the woman. The police said that the juvenile had reportedly abused the woman's husband and father-in-law before getting into the case and had threatened the couple to harm them, the report added.

Per the PTI report, he then drove the vehicle recklessly, ultimately hitting the woman, who sustained minor injuries.

"The juvenile has been apprehended and presented before the Juvenile Justice Board, which has ordered his placement in an observation home. We have submitted a request to try the minor as an adult in this case," a Pimpri Chinchwad police official said.

The case has been registered at the Alandi police station. The minor faces charges under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Section 307 for attempted murder, as well as violations of the Motor Vehicles Act, the police said.

Meanwhile, in the Pune car crash case, the committee formed to investigate the conduct of two Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) members in connection with the minor's bail in the Pune car collision case discovered "procedural lapses," "misconduct," and "non-compliance with norms," a top official said on Saturday, according to PTI.

On May 19, two IT workers were killed in Kalyani Nagar, Pune, after their motorbike was hit by a speeding Porsche driven apparently by a teenager who was inebriated.

The disaster made national headlines owing to efforts to get the youngster off the hook, which resulted in the arrest of numerous people, including his father and grandfather.
