At least three children drowned in the Papadkhind dam at Fulwadi in Virar on Sunday evening. Local residents managed to save two of them, but an 11-year-old child died in this incident.

Vasanth Borade, along with his wife, son and two other children, went to the dam on Sunday evening for a picnic. In the evening, around 7 pm Om Borade (11) and his friends Ansh (12) and Vansh (11) started drowning in the water.

With the help of locals, Vansh and Ansh were rescued. However, Om drowned and lost his life. The Virar police station has registered a case of accidental death.

Every day, Virar city receives 10 million liters of water from the Papadkhind dam. Last week, a 13-year-old boy also died in this dam.
