A five-year-old child died and three others were injured after the roof of an under-construction structure in an MHADA building collapsed near Ram Manohar Lohiya Road in Kurla West.


As per the officials of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the incident occurred at 2.40 pm on Monday. The BMC’s L ward building department officials along with Mumbai Fire Brigade, police and an ambulance was rushed to the spot. Four people were taken to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar for treatment. One of them Afan Khan (5) was reported brought dead while three others - Rafina Shaikh (43), Irfan Khan (33) and Mohammed Zikran (6) are receiving treatment.


“Level one incident of the house collapse has been reported. The roof of the ground plus one structure collapsed. While three injured have been rushed to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar, 6-year-old Mohammed Zikran has been shifted to Bhabha Hospital for treatment”, said the BMC officials.


The medical superintendent of Rajawadi Hospital stated that the injured persons were stable and undergoing treatment.
