After MBBS and MD doctors, the BMC is now looking for BAMS doctors for HBT clinics and outreach services. Apart from doctors, the civic health department is also looking for auxiliary nurses and midwives (ANM).

To provide better health care at the doorstep of Mumbaikars, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has started strengthening its primary health care centre. The civic body, in its budget for the financial year 2022-23, had announced the opening of 200 Hinduhrudaysamrat Balasaheb Thackarey (HBT) clinics. From October 2, the civic body launched 66 clinics and polyclinics in a phase-wise manner. More will be opened soon. In the past 100 days, over two lakh Mumbaikars have approached these clinics for treatment.

Presently, HBT clinics have MBBS doctors and polyclinics have gynaecologists, paediatricians, dermatologists, physicians, and dentists as specialists. But now, for outreach services, BMC is looking for contractual BAMS doctors for which they are ready to pay Rs 42,000 a month. And, ANMs will get Rs 22,000 a month. Those with experience working in COVID situations will be given preference. An official who wished not to be named said, “Currently, the work is not clearly defined about whether they will work at a clinic or for outreach.”
