Covid-19: TPR, new cases see a rise in both Mumbai and Maharashtra

After seeing the lowest test positivity rate in the second wave on Monday, Mumbai saw a significant rise in both TPR and daily cases on Tuesday. TPR rose to 0.63 per cent from 0.43 per cent on Monday.


As per the BMC report, there were 187 new cases and two deaths. Both the deceased were aged above 60 and had comorbidities.


The doubling rate, however, improved to 2,782 days on Tuesday. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 192 people recovered and were discharged on Tuesday. 


The state also saw a significant rise in new cases and fatalities. As per the state health department report, 678 cases and 35 deaths were reported on Tuesday. The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent. Meanwhile, 942 patients recovered and were discharged. The state currently has 7,555 active cases. 

As per the report, 298 cases were reported in the MMR including Mumbai. Thane city and Navi Mumbai reported 21 cases each, followed by Panvel with 19 cases.

Kalyan-Dombivli saw 12 cases, Vasai-Virar 8 cases, Raigad 11 cases and Panvel saw 19 cases. MMR, excluding Mumbai, saw 20 deaths with Raigad reporting the highest at 17 deaths. Ulhasnagar, Mira-Bhayandar and Panvel saw one death each.
