A woman has registered a domestic violence case against her abusive husband at the NM Joshi police station after he damaged her eardrum during a fight on Tuesday, January 16. The complainant, Sonali Inarkar married accused Rakesh in 2012.
According to Sonali, troubles began in their marriage right after the third month, when Rakesh started hitting and harassing her. In July 2016, Rakesh blamed her for the death of his father Chandrakant, who had actually passed away due to a heart attack. In a couple of days, Rakesh threw her out of the house with their two children.

Sonali then moved into a rented home in Badlapur and filed a domestic violence case against Rakesh in September 2016 at the Bhoiwada court. At the same time, he filed a divorce case in the Bandra family court. A date for the hearing of the case at the Bhoiwada court was set for January 17. Prior to it, Sonali had decided to stay at her mother's home in Khimji Chawl, Lower Parel.
However, around 9 pm that day, she couldn't find her kids. She later found that Rakesh had taken them. When he brought them back, Sonali saw a toothbrush in the mouth of one of the kids and angrily removed it. Considering this as an insult, Rakesh began beating Sonali. After hearing the scuffle, the residents of the chawl intervened and took Sonali to the hospital.
"I was bleeding from my left ear and also suffered injuries on the left side of my head and shoulder. The doctor told that my eardrum has ruptured," said Sonali in her statement. A case has been filed against Rakesh under IPC sections 325, 323, and 504 of the Indian Penal Code.
