Minimalism is the way

I often opt for a mix of comfort and style. During the summer months, I particularly enjoy pairing pastel-tops with a bolero (jacket) and a pair of jeans with floral detailing or flowy skirts. This combination is refreshing and helps me beat the heat. The bolero adds a sophisticated element, making this outfit versatile and suitable for both casual and more formal settings. Overall, this look embodies the perfect blend of fashion and practicality for a busy college student like myself.

On casual days, I opt for a basic combination of a t-shirt, good jeans, and sneakers. To add some flair, I like to layer or accessorise, which allows me to create a stylish look without sacrificing comfort. I believe that accessorising is a crucial aspect of elevating one’s style. For me, must-have accessories include dainty watches and slim gold rings, which add a touch of sophistication without overwhelming the outfit. Sunglasses and bags are also essential for adding a pop of colour. For shoes, I prefer Onitsuka sneakers and kitten heels, which provide both comfort and style.

I like to add pops of red or maroon throughout my outfit, as it’s a statement shade that adds a bold touch. If you wear glasses like me, I would suggest investing in statement glasses for everyday attire. Not only do they help build an identity, but they also make you stand out even when you aren’t putting a lot of effort into your outfit.

This year, I am introducing more feminine pieces to my wardrobe. My Pinterest board has been a significant influence on this shift, as I am drawn to pink and butter yellow hues. I am also moving away from bold, cut-out designs and opting for more minimal and sophisticated styles. Additionally, I am investing in higher-quality basics, because I am aware that these staples are essential for building a versatile wardrobe.

My go-to college wear would be a graphic tank top or an oversized tee, paired with cargo pants, and chunky platform boots. I am definitely adding the trendy heavy acid/stone washed cargo pants with extra pockets to my wardrobe this year. While I prefer chic wear, I usually opt for style plus comfort.

For instance, I enjoy wearing clothes with a cyberpunk edge; I might choose a bomber jacket over a breathable mesh top, combined with cargo pants and boots. I love accessorising with spiga choker chains and layered chains. As for college bags, it is either a messenger bag, or a tote bag, depending on my outfit. I usually thrift my collection from Hill Road in Bandra West, or Sarojini Market in Delhi.

Baggy jeans, oversized sweatshirts, and flowy skirts are all the rage on college campuses. Not only are loose fits comfortable and easy to wear, but they also exude a sense of effortless cool. Channel your inner skater boy with a pair of relaxed-fit jeans and an oversized hoodie. Girls can opt for a loose-fitting midi skirt paired with a crop top for a relaxed yet stylish look.

One of the easiest ways to elevate your college fashion game is by incorporating solid colours into your wardrobe. They are versatile and can be mixed and matched effortlessly. Denim is another wardrobe essential that never goes out of style. This versatile fabric can be dressed up or down for any occasion, just like Kartik Aaryan dresses up a casual vibe with V-neck or round neck tee and denims, guys can rock a similar look, or a denim-on-denim style by pairing a denim jacket with a pair of black jeans for a rugged, yet fashionable outfit.

Girls can elevate their denim wardrobe with a pair of high-waisted mom jeans paired with a tucked-in shirt to take the retro-inspired route. Sneakers are comfortable for long days of walking around the campus, and add a cool and casual vibe. Guys can rock a pair of trendy white sneakers with a pair of slim-fit jeans and a graphic tee for a laid-back look. Girls can ace their appearance with a pair of platform sneakers paired with a flowy dress for a chic and effortless ensemble.
