Popular celebs pick their favourite summer tracks

Summer means hitting the beach, tippling over mai tais, and grooving to feel-good music. We roped in a few familiar faces to pick their favourite songs that make their minds swing to all things carefree. Here comes the sun!

Dil Chahta Hai (by Shankar Ehsaan Loy from the film by the same name) because everything — from the video to the way it’s sung — makes me want to head to the beaches of Goa. There’s also It’s Just A Little Crush by Jennifer Paige. It has a super sweet and breezy tune and a summery video too.

My new summer song is The Anthem by GRiZ. It’s smooth and full of bounce at the same time, perfect to listen to while chilling by the poolside.

My summer song is Under the Boardwalk (by The Drifters). There is something calming about this melodious song. It especially brings back the memories of the time when I was studying in Santa Barbara (USA) as there were a lot of boardwalks there.

We Are All Going On A Summer Holiday by Cliff Richards is all about holidays. It reminds me of vacations during school, which would only be in summers, childhood memories, all good things that happened on holidays. Today, a vacation is whenever you can fit it in during the year and not just summer.

How Bizzarre by OMC, the song brings memories, the smells and sounds that remind me of listening to songs in the car (stolen from parents) with my friends, happy banter and a whole lot of fun. Also, our latest song, Superfly with Anish Sood and Nanok is a summer song. When we were thinking of what song should we make, we decided on summer and being happy.

Summertime (And The Livin’ Is Easy) by Ella Fitzgerald (there are other versions too) is a very jazzy, joyous celebration of summer. The song celebrates summer in a different way. I heard it first as a kid, and even today, I sing it at a lot of my concerts.
