There are no rules in filmmaking. Only sins. And the cardinal sin is dullness.”, is truly quoted by Frank Capra. It is said to be good filmmaking when you don’t have to say anything and still can decipher the essence of the story. The film industry is an aspiration of millions who dream of it with open eyes but one needs to be dexterous to stand out of the crowd. One such name, who is not an ingenious director but a versatile artist himself is Dave Sidhu.

Sidhu made his debut in short movies and also directed movies in 2004. He started his career as an amateur in cinema by acting and directing music videos. After casting in short films titled Panda: The Responsibility in 2017 and Tabbar in 2018, he went on to cast the Indian-Australian production Preshaan Parinda. Preshaan Parinda was shot in Australia. He finished his diploma and learned filmmaking from AFI ( Australian Film Institute) and started working as an actor and casting director in his first film Indo Australia production film ‘Preshaan Parinda’ in 2018 with director Devesh Pratap Singh. Even with scarcity of funds, his hard work and dedication motivated him to begin making videos and once he sowed the seeds the process never stopped.
Later he shifted to Sydney, where the swedge was even more grinding because of the divergent culture, language, and tradition of the city. After the hustle of more than a couple of years, he finally got a job and settled there.
Along with the films, Sidhu has directed many music videos which turned out to be massive hits. Some of them are Gaddi naal viah, Dhooman, Valayat, and many more. Because of his persistent endeavor, his work has been recognized. He was nominated for the best actor award in 2002 from Punjabi university along with the best actor award in 2004 from Taksheel society. He also started activity-controlled business-compliance construction, local public services, and many other services with his wife in Sydney. Apart from this, he owns a personal TV and radio channel-Raabta.
Sidhu is also working on big projects such as the Sydney water project based on the supply of water.
The recently released film Kuriyan Jawan Baapu Preshaan was his second feature film as a casting director. Sidhu said that the casting of this film was the most difficult and time-consuming as this film was filmed around Lockdown. At that time it was not possible to leave the house. We did all the auditions from home, discussions used to happen on Zoom. Where the film was to be shot, artists were needed around the same place. So that they can come to shoot. This was all the first time before that casting did not face so much problem. However, it was a fun experience. After the lockdown, the first film to be released in Punjab Theatres was 'Kuriyan Jawan Baapu Preshaan ', it is a matter of pride for us.
Dave Sidhu is an astonishing phenomenal director, who is not only diligent but assiduous as well towards his work.
