Sony recently added two new models to its Cyber-shot range of compact cameras — RX100 IV and RX10 II featuring its latest 1.0-type Exmor RS CMOS sensor that come equipped with a DRAM memory chip to offer faster data write speed.

The memory chip allows the cameras to capture super slow motion video at up to 960fps and offer shutter speed up to a maximum of 1/32000 second, and capture 4K videos (QFHD 3840x2160), it said.

While the RX10 II can shoot 4K videos at extended lengths of up to 29 minutes, the RX100 IV can shoot 4K clips of up to approximately 5 minutes in length. Both cameras also have advanced dual video recording functionality, which allows shooters to capture 16.8-megapixel still images during 4K video recording in any of 11 different composition patterns, simply by pressing the shutter button.

Sony also said that it has also made some improvements in the auto focus system, with the two cameras now being able to lock-in on a moving subject in as little as 0.09 seconds with a simple half-press of the shutter button. Both the cameras feature OLED display and have Wi-Fi and NFC compatibility.

Design-wise however, there aren’t many changes in the two cameras. The RX100 IV retains the compact looks of the RX100 family featuring ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T 24-70mm (35mm equivalent) F1.8-F2.8 lens. However, the RX100 IV now comes with a 180- degree tiltable LCD. The new RX10 II also has the same body design as seen in the original RX10, and features 24-200mm (35mm equivalent) F2.8 lens. It also supports advanced XAVC S codec during video shooting, which allows it to record videos at a high bit rate of 100Mbps (possible only in UHS Speed Class 3 memory cards) during 4K recording and 50Mbps during full HD shooting.

The two cameras will be available with free accessories that include a carry case, a micro HDMI cable and 64GB SDXC memory card.

Available on: order via all Alpha flagship stores and Sony stores

Price: Rs 69,990 (for RX100IV) and Rs 94,990 (for RX 10 II)
