Did you buy a DSLR for your last trip, only to end up clicking pictures on auto mode? Not sure what to do when there are too many people in the frame? If you're a travel photography enthusiast who wants to polish those skills, head to a workshop at Dr Bhau Daji Lad Mumbai City Museum this weekend.
Conducted by Kunal Bhatia and Shuvajit Payne of Rickety Roads, the session is broadly divided into three parts. The first delves into what you should do before your trip. This includes creating an itinerary that is conducive to photography. "The second component focuses on travel photography and will take up the largest chunk of the workshop. We will start with certain fundamentals of composition, framing, colour, and backgrounds, and then do some outdoor exercises to put these into practice," says Bhatia. The third component deals with what to do once you're back, like not allowing your images to languish on the memory card, and how you can edit and print them.
After a quick review of everyone's images, there will be a session on how to break the 'rules' that were taught earlier. "We will then touch upon a few advanced concepts like depth of field, and multiple exposures," he adds.
The workshop requires no prior experience of photography. All you need to do is carry a camera - even a smartphone camera works - for the practical exercises.
