Charting a new innings in entertainment after his successful run in international cricket, former Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni and wife Sakshi are swiftly working towards rolling out new projects from their stable, Dhoni Entertainment. Months after they announced a mythological web series based on an unpublished book, the duo are now creating India’s first animated spy universe, with the protagonist based on the star cricketer.

In an ode to the former skipper in jersey number 7 who led the Indian team to many victories, the animated fiction show has been tentatively titled Captain 7 and will see the protagonist, complete with Dhoni’s physical attributes, as a secret agent who takes on the baddies. “The concept and story are great. The show will bring to life my other passions, along with cricket,” says the sporting icon.

Sakshi, who is creatively driving the project, adds, “When Black White Orange [studio] came to us with the concept of an animation fiction show based on Mahi, we were on board. With Captain 7, a whole lot of adventure awaits [his fans].” Currently in pre-production, the first season of the multi-edition series will launch in 2022.
