Actor Karanvir Sharma —who wowed the audience with his portrayal of Rohit MIrchandani in ‘A Thursday,’ also featuring Yami Gautam—speaks to mid-day.com about making it in the industry despite being an outsider.
Karanvir says, “I don’t think it's the length of the role that bothers me but the system bothers me a lot. I spoke to an agency today because I wanted someone to help me get good work. I'm grateful that work comes to me, Behzad (Khambata) offered me something like this. The agencies have a different agenda. I spoke to one guy today and he told me ‘Unfortunately I won't be able to do it.' I asked him who are the people he is working with and he said ‘Oh I have this one’s son’ I asked him if he is only working with the industry. I don’t understand such people.”
Sharing his concern for new artistes he adds, “I used to be a newcomer once. If they have a problem with me despite my body of work, they won’t help newcomers at all.”
