Giving shape to the second season of Delhi Crime has been a long journey for the makers, owing to the pandemic. Now, director Rajesh Mapuskar can heave a sigh of relief as the shoot is on the brink of completion. mid-day has learnt that the final leg of shooting will kick off this weekend in Delhi.

Mapuskar and his team have drawn up a 10-day schedule for the Shefali Shah and Rajesh Tailang-starrer. “All the outdoor portions set in the Capital will be shot over the next 10 days. The unit had conducted a schedule in Delhi in early 2020, but was compelled to cut it short when the lockdown was announced. Now, they will film certain sequences in the bylanes of the city, before returning to Mumbai for a quick two-day stint. Then it will be a wrap on the police procedural,” says a source. With the next few months dedicated to post-production, the makers are targeting a mid-2022 release.

The upcoming edition comes with the weight of high expectations—the Richie Mehta-directed opening season was, after all, adjudged the Best Drama Series at the International Emmy Awards 2020. While Mehta has since passed on the baton to Mapuskar, the latest instalment will see Shah reprise her role alongside Rasika Dugal who had essayed the part of probationary IPS officer Neeti Singh.
