The pandemic can’t stop Ekta Kapoor from churning out instalments of the popular Naagin franchise. Bigg Boss 15 winner Tejasswi Prakash will lead the sixth edition of the show in an all-new storyline, but that’s not all. The daily soap will also feature actor-dancer Sudhaa Chandran, who was last seen as Yamini in the third season of Naagin.

Inspired by Covid-19 pandemic that gripped the world, Naagin’s sixth edition is said to revolve around the serpent queen Sarvashreshth Naagin battling a global crisis. Set to play mother to the male protagonist in the daily soap, Chandran says, “It feels like homecoming for me. The character of Seema [in the series] is fierce, as she is a fearful matriarch, and a businesswoman. [As the story unfolds,] the different dimensions of my character will be revealed.”

Produced by Balaji Telefilms, the show is also bringing Urvashi Dholakia out of her four-year-sabbatical. The actor is over the moon to play her namesake and a mother in the Naagin franchise. “I am excited about doing a fiction show after four years. My character Urvashi is a happy-go-lucky woman, who is protective of her daughters and insecure about her husband’s [fidelity],” says Dholakia, adding that she found her character relatable.
