Following Satyameva Jayate 2 debacle, director Milap reunites with Ek Villain collaborator after eight years for action drama
A still from the film
Putting the poor run of Satyameva Jayate 2 (2021) behind him, Milap Zaveri is looking forward to his next, a yet-untitled action drama. The director has another reason to cherish the project — it reunites him with writer-director Tushar Hiranandani eight years after Ek Villain (2014). While Hiranandani had written its story and screenplay, Zaveri had penned the dialogues of the Sidharth Malhotra-starrer. The two — who had previously collaborated on ABCD (2013) and Main Tera Hero (2014) — parted ways after the thriller to pursue their directorial dreams.

Asked how the duo found their way back to each other, Zaveri says, “The action drama is not in the zone of Satyameva Jayate. While it has heroism, it is more credible in plot and treatment. I had the idea, and wanted someone to write it for me. When I reached out to Tushar, he loved the story. We wrote the screenplay together. I have written the dialogues. We picked up from where we had left off.” The director is currently finalising the cast.
Coming to terms with the dismal performance of the John Abraham-starrer was hard, Zaveri admits. “The producers of Satyameva Jayate 2 are backing my next. They tell me that one failure doesn’t define my work. Failure can be depressing. But you need to learn from your mistakes. I made the film that I wanted to and went wrong in my conviction. I have to admit it so that I don’t repeat the same mistakes.”
