Harbhajan, Geeta cancel Lohri bash due to Omicron scare

With the arrival of their newborn Jovan Veer Singh, actor Geeta Basra and cricketer Harbhajan Singh were keen to mark the new phase of their lives with a Lohri party on January 13. Friends and family, including some from the UK were set to fly down to India for the celebration, which has now been called off due to the Omicron scare.

Confirming the news, Basra says, “The surge in cases is alarming, and [hosting] a celebration during this period would be wrong. We have decided to put the party on hold till things get better, and have planned a small affair with our family instead. We urge everyone to stay safe and follow appropriate COVID protocols so that we can tide over these circumstances in the safest way possible.”

The festival holds importance for the parents, who had also thrown a bash on the occasion, after the birth of their daughter, Hinaya four years ago. This year, they will mark Lohri with a small group, in Jalandhar.
