Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone are leading the cast of the upcoming film Fighter, directed by Siddharth Anand, scheduled for a theatrical release on January 25, 2024. The movie, featuring Anil Kapoor, Akshay Oberoi, Karan Singh Grover, and others, marks the first collaboration between Roshan and Padukone on the silver screen. While advance bookings for the film have been satisfactory, an anticipated boost is expected on Friday, thanks to the Republic Day holiday.

In a significant development, Fighter has encountered obstacles in its release across Gulf countries, with the exception of the UAE. The film failed to obtain clearance from the GCC Censors, despite efforts by Siddharth Anand and the team. The censor screening occurred on January 10, 2024, and on the 23rd, it was officially conveyed that the movie won't be released in most Gulf nations. This denial poses a considerable setback for the filmmakers.

But, why is the Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone-starrer denied release in Gulf countries except UAE? The specific reason for the denial remains undisclosed, but it is likely linked to content deemed either highly disturbing or objectionable by the censors. Notably, this incident follows the recent banning of Tiger 3 in Kuwait and Qatar. The denial of clearance by GCC Censors for Fighter could result in a substantial loss of potential business, estimated to be between 500,000 to 1 million dollars in the Gulf countries.

The film has minted about 3 crores in its advance booking from the first day. The reports further revealed that the movie has sold 36,454 tickets in 2D, while the 3D version received more responses with about 50,770 tickets being sold. The movie's IMAX 3D and 4DX 3D sale touched the 6,000 marks collectively.

On January 15, the power-packed trailer of Siddharth Anand's directorial 'Fighter' was released and started making waves everywhere. Well-packed with adrenaline-pumping action sequences, the crackling chemistry of Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone, and powerful background music, the trailer has guaranteed a perfect start to 2024 with the celebration of the 75th Republic Day.

About 'Fighter'

The film features Hrithik Roshan as Squadron Leader Shamsher Pathania aka Patty, Deepika as Squadron Leader Minal Rathore aka Minni, and Anil Kapoor as Group Captain Rakesh Jai Singh aka Rocky fighting for the country. Akshay Oberoi and Karan Singh Grover will also be seen in the film. Apart from the adrenaline-pumping trailer, the makers have dropped a few songs from the film's album. While 'Sher Khul Gaye' quickly became the party anthem, 'Ishq Jaisa Kuch' made us drool over Hrithik and Deepika's chemistry. The recently released song from the film, 'Heer Aasmani,' made us all dance. To note, there have been reports that the CBFC has suggested 4 cuts in the film and has granted it a U/A certificate.
