Have you heard? Oops, he did it again!

Diljit Dosanjh

Just when we believe Diljit Dosanjh cannot surprise us any more, the Punjabi singer catches us off guard. Dosanjh is set to appear on Jimmy Fallon’s popular American chat show, The Tonight Show. He took to social media to reveal the news, and shared a list of the guests, among whom he is one, who will appear on the show. “Punjabi aa gaye, oye,” he wrote on the next slide. The episode featuring him will air on July 17. Apart from Dosanjh, Eddie Murphy and Matty Matheson will also be part of the episode. A fan prophesied, “Hollywood is not far from you now. The next move for Diljit will be a Hollywood movie.” Celebrities like Neeru Bajwa, Kareena Kapoor, Neha Dhupia, and Harshdeep Kaur reacted in the comments.

The right note

Siddhant Chaturvedi, who unveiled his new track titled Ittefaq yesterday, shared that he has always attempted to express himself through singing and song-writing, alongside acting and dance. The two-minute-48-second song has been rendered by the actor and Savera, and features Wamiqa Gabbi. “Music has always been a passion for me. For a long time, I’ve been finding a way to express myself through singing and song-writing, along with acting and dancing. Ittefaq feels like the perfect amalgamation of all these passions. I poured my heart into the making of this song, and I’m thrilled to finally share it with the world,” he said. Meanwhile, on the acting front, he will next be seen in Yudhra, and Karan Johar’s Dhadak 2.

The collaboration we needed

As what may be considered among the most notable collaborations of the recent past, Martin Garrix is likely to join hands with Arijit Singh. After the Dutch DJ shared an image of him with Singh on social media yesterday, fans were certain the duo intended to work together. As Garrix thanked Singh for an “incredible week”, one fan wrote: “I wasn’t ready for this.” Another shared, “2024 is wild.” Garrix is considered among the top DJs of the era, and has hits like Animals and In the name of love to his credit.

A whole lot of love

In a bid to pique curiosity around her next, Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha, Tabu shared an image, and the film’s poster, on Instagram. “Bound by fate. Defined by love,” she wrote in the caption of the poster featuring her in an embrace with Ajay Devgn. Neeraj Pandey’s directorial venture, which also features the acclaimed Jimmy Sheirgill, will release on July 5. It is touted to be a love story that spans across 2002 and 2023. Tabu and Devgn share a close bond and have been friends for several years. They’ve previously acted together in the Golmaal series.

Lost love for Farida Jalal?

In a round of interviews with the media, actor Farida Jalal, who was recently seen in Heeramandi, has expressed her disappointment with both Karan Johar and Shah Rukh Khan. While talking about Johar to a media house, Jalal shared that his “loyalties shift very fast”. Highlighting that there was a time when he wouldn’t make a film without her, he says Johar “doesn’t have any role for me in his films” anymore. As for Khan, Jalal suggested that his “secretary” was not kind to her, and that she has no means to connect with the actor, if she desires to do so.

Maybe, maybe not

Director Nipun Dharmadhikari surely knew how to tease fans when asked if Shahid Kapoor would make a special appearance in the upcoming edition of Ishq Vishk. “You will know that on June 21,” revealed the director at a recent event, referring to the release date of the film, starring Pashmina Roshan, Jibraan Khan, Rohit Saraf and Naila Grrewal. Kapoor featured in the first edition of the movie that released in 2003, and also starred Amrita Rao. Kapoor and Rao’s chemistry was appreciated to such an extent that they were subsequently appointed to star in Vivah, three years later.

No, but...

Surely the media knew what it was getting into at a promotional event in the city while asking Karan Johar to comment on the recent instance of abuse relating to Kangana Ranaut. Days after the actor-MP lamented that Bollywood folk did not speak up for her after she was slapped by a CISF constable, Johar said at the trailer launch of his upcoming film, Kill, “I do not support any kind of violence—verbal or physical.” With his statement, the producer appeared to allude to the derogatory comments made by Ranaut during the 2020 farmers’ protest. The constable had claimed that Ranaut’s statements had instigated her. Ranaut and Johar have shared a bitter history for years, and have often pulled each other down on public platforms.
