The shoot of 'Gangubai Kathiawadi' was going full steam ahead in March until Sanjay Leela Bhansali contracted the virus, bringing work to an abrupt halt. The subsequent weeks saw leading lady Alia Bhatt testing positive, followed by the junta curfew in the state. Now, as the lockdown restrictions are being gradually eased, the maverick filmmaker is ready to spin his magic on a dance number.

Alia was filming a song when the shoot ground to a halt earlier this year. Sanjay sir wants to pick it up from where he left off. So, the background dancers will begin their rehearsal next week, with Alia and the director recommencing the shoot post June 15,” reveals a source. Bhansali wants 15 background dancers for the track that will be shot at Film City, Goregaon in compliance with safety norms. He has made it clear that only vaccinated artistes will be allowed on his set. The source adds, “Of the 900 dancers in the dancers’ association, about 300 have been inoculated so far. The remaining artistes will get their jab in the course of next week before they start shooting for other projects.” After the song is behind them, the actor-director duo can call it a wrap on their cherished project that also features Ajay Devgn.
