Like it or not, the cast and crew of the Bollywood remake of Thuppaki are having to make do with south Indian food on the sets. And it’s the film’s director AR Murugadoss’ eating habits that had the usual fare replaced with authentic dishes from the South.

A connoisseur of typical south Indian food, Murugadoss was apparently having a nightmare adjusting to local fare on the sets. Taking a cue, producer Vipul Shah made sure the director had his usual fill of idlis and dosas.

Says a source, “The director is busy working on the remake of Thuppaki for Shah. He prefers having idli-dosa for breakfast and sambar-rice for lunch. The producer went out of the way to have his Gujarati maharaj cook authentic south food for Murugadoss. The producer also ordered his caterer on the sets to try and make changes in the daily food.”

Shah confirms, “Surprisingly, Murugadoss was hardly ordering for room service and was calling for south Indian food from a nearby restaurant. Thankfully, my cook has now mastered dishing out south Indian fare.” The producer says Murugadoss even brought some authentic spices from his home to help Shah’s maharaj cook up delicacies in the kitchen.u00a0
