The Varun Dhawan and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer 'ABCD 2' has recorded this year's highest opening weekend collections surpassing Rs 39.5 crore figures of 'Gabbar Is Back' by over Rs 6 crore. Though critics were not quite appreciative of the dance drama, Bollywood buffs seem to have given a thumbs up to the film. Its business totals over Rs 45 crore.

Trade analyst Amod Mehra says, "'ABCD 2' had the best opening this year — this, despite Mumbai coming to a standstill due to heavy rains. Youngsters flocked to the theatres and Sunday saw the highest number of footfalls. It looks like it will be able to recover its cost in the first week. And if the film continues performing at the same pace, it can easily cross the Rs 100-crore mark."

He adds that Hollywood film 'Jurassic World' did good business over the weekend while 'Dil Dhadakne Do' is gradually being pushed out of theatres.

BO stats
Rs 46.35crore

'Hamari Adhuri Kahani' (second week; Overall: Rs 30.26 crore)
