Canadian rock legend Bryan Adams performed in Mumbai on December 13 as part of his tour 'So Happy It Hurts' World Tour. While it was a happy occasion for a lot of his Indian fans, the concert experience turned sour for one attendee. The diabetes patient ended up soiling his pants due to lack of adequate toilets at the venue, and has now written an open complaint to Zomato. Man writes open letter to Zomato CEO A man named Sheldon Aranjo took to LinkedIn to address an open letter to Deepinder Goyal, the CEO of Zomato and the head of EVA Global Events. Aranjo revealed shocking details from the concert and criticised the mismanagement at the concert. Aranjo began the letter with the words, "I PAID TO PEE (in my pants) at the Bryan Adams concert." The entrepreneur elaborated that although the flow of traffic was fine, the Bombay Convention and Exhibition Centre ensured his bladder's flow was just as good. Sheldon narrated the happenings of that night and wrote that he was in a huge queue to the loo and he knew he would not be able to hold his urine for so long as he is diabetic. So, he went to the pavilion's other side, as someone advised. The entrepreneur mentioned that it was a tough journey across due to the humungous crowd, only to find out that he could access the other loo as those were for the another category and he had a Gold ticket. Finding no other option, he resorted to peeing under the nearest tree after bumping into many security guards. Finally, he was able to relieve himself but he had soiled his pants and he was not embarrassed or ashamed of it as he is a diabetes patient and has continence issues. Aranjo also attached a picture of his soiled pants. Mismanagement at Bryan Adams' concert He further lashed out at the management and the organisers of the concert by mentioning that there were only two loos for 1000 people. The writer also mentioned that he heard other people mentioning amateur management too. Apart from long queues at the loo, Aranjo pointed out mismanagement of food stalls and unnecessary queues to load cash onto the event invite in this digital age where UPI is the way. Lastly, he had some advice for the organisers: be more organized before organising such large-scale events involving international artists and don't be in a hurry to launch new event management companies. He termed this letter not as a rant but as a cry for help. This was Bryan Adams' sixth visit to India and he kicked off the tour with a concert in Kolkata on December 8. The singer visited Shillong, Gurugram, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad too.
17 December,2024 02:27 PM IST | Mumbai | mid-day online correspondentDiljit Dosanjh has been making headlines for his Dil-luminati tour, and recently, the Punjabi sensation performed in Chandigarh and dropped pictures. Later, Diljit received a lot of backlash for spelling Punjab as 'Panjab.' Many said that the spelling is mostly used by the Pakistani side of the region. Meanwhile, some said that he even missed adding the Indian Tricolour emoji in the post. Now, after this backlash, he addressed the 'conspiracy theory.' Diljit slammed people for questioning his love for India On Monday, Diljit Dosanjh took to X and, along with a screenshot of a tweet where he added the Indian Tricolour flag after writing Chandigarh Panjab, penned a detailed note and called out people for questioning his love for the country. The note reads, "PANJAB, kisi ek tweet mein agar PANJAB ke saath India flag mention reh gaya toh conspiracy. Bengaluru ke tweet mein bhi ek jagah reh gaya tha mention karna. Agar Punjab ko PANJAB likha toh conspiracy. PANJAB ko chaahe PUNJAB likho, PANJAB WILL BE PANJAB (If I forgot to mention the India flag with Panjab in one tweet, then you create a conspiracy. I missed mentioning it even in a Bengaluru tweet. If I write Punjab as Panjab, then conspiracy)." 'Hats off to those who are using foreigners' language to push conspiracy theories' "Panj Aab - meaning Five Rivers…Hats off to those who are using foreigners' language (English) to push conspiracy theories. In the future, I will write PANJAB in Punjabi, as in Gurumukhi. You guys won’t stop, I know. So keep going. How many times do we have to prove that we love India? Do something new, or have you been given a task to create conspiracies around me?" he further added. As soon as the actor-singer put out the post, a fan quickly reverted, saying, "Why are you even bothering.. some people have no work to do but to troll!! Life mein sabko explanation dena zaruri nai hai.." To this, Diljit reverted, saying, "Na.. bother shother ni karda mai. Eh vaar vaar tweets kar ke jhoothi gal nu v sach bana dende aa tan counter karna zaruri aa (I don't bother about these things, but repeatedly tweeting false claims makes them seem true, so it's necessary to counter them) (sic)." Diljit dedicated his Chandigarh concert to Gukesh Dommaraju.
16 December,2024 02:38 PM IST | Mumbai | mid-day online correspondentSinger Lucky Ali, who is known for being the soothing voice behind songs like O Sanam and Na Tum Jano Na Hum, courted controversy following his land dispute with Indian Administrative Service (IAS) Officer Rohini Sindhuri and her kin. Now, the Karnataka High Court has passed an interim order staying the FIR that was registered against the singer, who accused Sindhuri of harassment. FIR stayed against Lucky Ali As per Bar and Bench, the court ordered that the FIR be stayed and restrained the police from conducting any probe in the case. Ali alleged that he was harassed by the police given Sindhuri’s status as a senior government officer. The court said that the FIR was based on a complaint by Sindhuri’s mother-in-law. Earlier this year, Lucky Ali had approached the court seeking a quashing of the FIR based on wrongful restraint, intimidation, damage to property, and trespassing. Lucky Ali alleges encroachment of his farm In 2023, Lucky Ali complained to DG and IGP of Karnataka Praveen Sood over the alleged encroachment of his farmland by the land mafia involving the husband of Sindhuri. He also alleged that Sindhuri was helping the land mafia and misusing state resources. In his complaint, Lucky Ali stated, "I am Maqsood Mahmood Ali. Son of the Late actor and comedian Mehmood Ali. And also known as Lucky Ali. I am currently in Dubai for work, hence the urgency." "My farm which is a Trust Property located in Kenchenahalli Yelahanka is being encroached on illegally by Sudhir Reddy (and Madhu Reddy) from the Bangalore land mafia, with the help of his wife who is an IAS officer by the name of Rohini Sindhuri. They are misusing state resources for their personal gain. They are forcibly and illegally coming inside my farm and refusing to show the relevant documents," Ali alleged. "My legal counsel is informing me that this is totally illegal and they don't have the court order to come inside the property as we are in possession, and living there since the past 50 years. I wanted to meet you before I left for Dubai, but since you were unavailable, we filed a complaint to the jurisdictional ACP," he said. "I have not had any positive response as yet. My family and small children are alone on the farm. I am getting no help from the local police, who are in fact supporting the encroachers and are indifferent to our situation and the legal status of our land. Dear Sir, I request your help to stop this illegal activity of them trying to prove a false possession before the final court hearing on December 7. Please help us as I have no choice other than to take this to the Public," Ali wrote. The High Court will hear the matter further on December 16.
12 December,2024 08:10 PM IST | Mumbai | mid-day online correspondentComedian Samay Raina has invited Kusha Kapila's ex-husband, Zorawar Ahluwalia, to appear on the judge’s panel of India’s Got Latent. Raina took to his Instagram stories to reveal Zorawar's name as one of the guests on the judging panel slated to appear on the show. If this comes true, this episode is expected to create quite a stir, as Samay and Kusha Kapila have been in a cold war since his brutal roast about Zorawar and Kusha’s divorce. The guest panel includes several A-listers who are set to appear on Samay's show. These include Zorawar, Farah Khan, Mukesh Chhabra, Ahsaas Channa, Bhuvan Bam, Kr$na, Ashish Vidyarthi, Dalip Tahil, Vishal Dadlani, and more. Samay Raina and Kusha Kapila's Feud Samay Raina was among the panelists on Ashish Solanki's show, where Kusha Kapila appeared as a judge. During Kapila's appearance on the show, Samay made several jokes about Kusha’s divorce and sex life. The jokes were so inappropriate that Ashish had to censor them while posting the video on the YouTube channel. While many called out Samay for his dark comments, several people questioned Kusha for sitting through the jokes. However, Kusha later clarified that she did not approve of the jokes beforehand and sat through the roast as a sign of resilience. Kusha Kapila blocked Samay Raina Kusha later blocked Samay Raina and wrote in her YouTube community notes, “It was done in good faith and for a friend. Nobody has been paid (neither comics nor guests) for it, so the argument that people are ‘being paid big fat cheques to hear their insults’ is baseless." “Jokes weren’t shared beforehand (as it’s done in all roast formats in the West), so I had no idea what was in store for me. Maybe I should have asked for a script and known better, but since friends were involved, I didn’t. Rookie mistake. While I endured some of the really raspy jokes in front of a live audience and technicians, I absolutely was not okay for it to play for millions of people since some jokes straight-up dehumanized me. It was shockingly unkind,” she added. It will be fun to see if Samay will talk about his feud with Kusha Kapila or not.
