Sidhu Moose Wala cremated at his native village in Mansa district, thousands join procession

A sea of mourners bid a tearful farewell to popular Punjabi singer Sidhu Moose Wala, who was cremated at his native village in Mansa district.

The body of the 28-year-old singer-politician, who was shot dead on May 29, was brought to his home in Moosa village amid tight security on Tuesday morning from Mansa civil hospital, where the post-mortem was conducted. Trouble brewing in celeb Juhu society, members allege corruption, fudged minutes of meeting

A major dispute appears to be brewing at one of Mumbai’s most high-profile housing societies, which is home to celebrities like Jaya and Amitabh Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan, and Kajol and Ajay Devgn. Author Siddharth Dhanvant Shanghvi and three other residents of the Kapole Cooperative Housing Society (CHS) have accused its office-bearers of corruption. They alleged that the office-bearers have prevented members from accessing their own property papers.

 

MNS chief Raj Thackeray admitted to Lilavati Hospital; to undergo hip surgery on June 1

MNS chief Raj Thackeray was admitted to Mumbai's Lilavati Hospital where he will undergo hip a surgery on June 1, a party leader said.

Earlier this month, Thackeray, 53, had said he would be undergoing a surgery for his knee and back problems. "He will undergo the hip surgery tomorrow," MNS leader Nitin Sardesai said. 

Mumbai: Child dead, woman in hospital, husband absconding after attempting to end life

A seven-year-old girl died and her mother is fighting for her life at a hospital, while her father is absconding after a failed murder-suicide attempt at a hotel in Mira Road. Police said the family was in financial distress. The Kashimira police have registered a murder case against Rayan Bracko, 39.  

Hardik Patel to join BJP on June 2

Former Congress leader Hardik Patel will join the BJP on June 2 in the presence of Gujarat party president CR Paatil, a state party spokesperson said.

Mumbai: Showcause notice to Narayan Rane's bungalow in Juhu for CRZ norms violation

A coastal management body in Mumbai has issued a show cause notice to Union minister Narayan Rane's bungalow in Juhu area here for alleged violation of the Coastal Regulatory Zone (CRZ) norms, an official said. Earlier, the city civic body had also issued a notice to Rane's 'Aadhish' bungalow over alleged unauthorised construction and rejected his proposal for its regularisation. 

Maharashtra: Woman kills her 6 children by throwing them into well in Raigad

Six minor children, including five girls, died when their mother allegedly threw them into a well on Monday in Maharashtra's Raigad district following a domestic dispute, police said. The shocking incident took place at Kharavali village in Mahad taluka, around 100km from Mumbai, in the afternoon, an official said.

Delhi court sends Satyendar Jain to ED custody till June 9 in money-laundering case

Delhi minister Satyendra Jain was sent to Enforcement Directorate's custody till June 9 by a court for questioning in a money laundering case.

Special Judge Geetanjli Goel remanded Jain in ED's custody, noting that his custodial interrogation was required to unearth the larger conspiracy. The ED on May 30 arrested the Delhi health minister under criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

53-year-old Raj Bhavan employee kills self at Bandstand

A 53-year-old Raj Bhavan employee allegedly died by suicide at Bandstand, Malabar Hill, on Monday afternoon. The man, identified as Kamlesh Jadhav, was a telephone operator. According to his family, he was unwell and on leave for a month. The Malabar Hill police have filed an Accidental Death Report and are probing the matter.

Terrorists gun down Kashmiri Pandit teacher in Kulgam

Terrorists on Tuesday shot dead a Kashmiri Pandit teacher in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said. Rajni Bala (36) of Samba in Jammu region sustained injuries when terrorists fired at her in Gopalpora area of Kulgam where she was posted as a teacher, they said.
