The Colonel was laid to rest at his village Mullanpur Garibdass in Mohali, Punjab.

His mortal remains were brought to his residence earlier on Friday. Heartwrenching visuals from the last rites showed Col Singh's children saluting their father.

The Colonel's mother was seen mourning her son's death as she waited at her doorstep for his mortal remains.

Visuals widely circulated on social media showed locals having gathered in numbers outside his residence to pay their last respects to the martyred soldier.

Alongwith Colonel Manpreet, Major Ashish Dhonchak and DSP, Jammu and Kashmir Police, Humayun Bhat were also martyred in an encounter that broke out on Wednesday.
