Two days ahead of its original onset date, the Southwest monsoon officially entered Mumbai, accompanied by thunder and lightning.

Mumbai city and its suburbs received good rain early Sunday morning, with the Santacruz observatory recording 20 mm of rainfall in the last 24 hours. Pic/Shadab Khan

The weather during the day remained partly sunny and partly cloudy on Moonday, however, this helped weather across the city and adjoining areas to cool down a bit.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for heavy rain in Mumbai City along with Thane, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Latur, and Nanded in Maharashtra for the next 24 hours. Pic/Shadab Khan

According to the weather department, an Orange alert indicates a rainfall range between 115.6 to 204.4 mm in a day. Pic/Shadab Khan
