IN PHOTOS: Coastal Road is now open to Mumbaikars seven days a week

From Saturday, September 21, the Dharmveer Swarajya Rakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Coastal Road in Mumbai will remain operational for vehicular traffic on all seven days of the week between 7 am and 12 am, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said (PICS/ASHISH RAJE)

The Mumbai Coastal Road is operational from Worli to Nariman Point on the south-bound arm. On the other arm, the corridor is open for north-bound traffic from South Mumbai to Bandra

At present, while the south-bound arm is partially open throughout the week, the north-bound arm is open Monday to Friday from 7 am to 11 pm

Earlier this month, on the occasion of Ganeshotsav, BMC had kept the corridor open for vehicles throughout the day, from September 7 to 17

From Saturday, September 21, the coastal road will be shut from midnight to 7 am for ongoing work; officials state that 92 per cent of the project is complete

On August 13, BMC opened the northbound traffic from the Coastal Road to Bandra via Bandra-Worli Sea Link. The remaining work on the Coastal Road is expected to be finished by December this year

 The 10.5-km stretch has a total cost of Rs 13,983 crore, with construction having begun in October 2018
