Nine persons were injured in a fire that broke out after a gas leak in Chembur area, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said on Friday. The injured persons have been admitted to hospitals.
The gas leak in Chembur occurred in a chawl at Siddharth Colony in Chembur East around 11.45 pm on Thursday, the civic body said.
A fire brigade official told news agency PTI that one fire engine, a jetty and ambulances were rushed to the spot.
The fire was doused in 10-15 minutes, he said, reported PTI.

Nine persons, including a 17-year-old boy, suffered burns in the accident.
All the injured persons have been admitted to four different hospitals in the city.
The injured persons have been identified as Sangita Gaikwad (55), Jitendra Kamble (46), Yashoda Gaikwad (56), Narmada Gaikwad (60), Ramesh Gaikwad (56), Shreyash Sonkhambe (17), Sherya Gaikwad (40), Vrishabh Gaikwad (23) and Sandip Jadhav (42).

In another incident, a major fire broke out at a parking area in Palghar district of Maharashtra in the wee hours of Thursday, destroying six trucks loaded with goods, an official said, reported PTI.
No person was injured in the incident which took place at 1.10 am at Dhani Baugh on Shyam Baugh road in Nalla Sopara area, Thane Municipal Corporation's disaster management cell chief Yasin Tadvi said, reported PTI.
Huge flames could be seen from a long distance, according to fire officials.
There were around 100 vehicles in the parking area when the blaze erupted, as per some locals, reported PTI.
A number of explosions, possibly due to chemical drums, occurred during the incident, which shattered the window panes of nearby houses, they claimed, reported PTI.
Some locals also rushed out of their homes for safety.
After being alerted, three fire engines from the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation were rushed to the spot and the blaze was extinguished by 6 am, Tadvi said.
Meanwhile, A fire broke out in a 12th-floor flat in a residential building in suburban Andheri on Wednesday night, officials said. A 67-year-old woman living in the flat was admitted to hospital as she suffered suffocation and her condition was said to be stable, reported PTI.
