The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced water supply cuts in many parts of Mumbai on Monday, June 3, and Tuesday, June 4, 2024, due to an internal inspection of the Malabar Hill Reservoir. Water supply to parts of A, C, D, G South and G North wards will experience a water cut, said BMC.

The inspection will be conducted by a team of professors from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee. The reservoir's compartments 1 and 2 will be emptied in stages for this purpose. This examination is part of the BMC's efforts to examine prior expert findings and guarantee that Mumbai residents have continuous access to clean water.

The BMC advises residents in these areas to store sufficient water and use it judiciously. Water supply timings may be rescheduled based on reservoir levels. The municipal administration requests citizens' cooperation to facilitate better services in the future.

"An internal inspection of Malabar Hill Reservoir is scheduled to be conducted by a team of Professors from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, on Monday, June 3, 2024 and Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Accordingly, Compartment 1 and 2 of Malabar Hill Reservoir will be emptied in a phased manner. As a result, water supply to parts of A, C, D, G South and G North wards will experience a water cut," BMC said in its statement.

"BMC has undertaken the reconstruction of Malabar Hill Reservoir. In this regard, Professors from IIT Roorkee requested for internal inspection of Malabar Hill Reservoir to analyse the present condition of MHR," the civic agency stated.
