Intimidated by beauty guru’s advice of plunging face-first into ice water? Try an ice-roller instead
Ice rollers are a good alternative to slam-dunking your face in an ice-bath
With everyone from Deepika Padukone to beauty influencers making ice a part of their daily skin and makeup routine, we were recently tempted to try the same. But instead of dipping our face in a cold, menacing bowl of ice, we chose an ice face roller. Online stores sell them for anywhere above Rs 299-plus, but we got a sweet deal at Crawford Market for Rs 50. The oval-shaped roller is made of silicone with a tiny cap to fill water. You could use cucumber or aloe vera-infused water, or essential oils and roses.

Once refrigerated for a few hours, open the cover (that’s a bit of a struggle), and voila, ice-candy for your face. Ice pack rollers are meant to help with puffiness below the eyes, improve blood circulation, and also treat pimples. We’ve been using it with caution, just rolling it for a few seconds, before splashing some warm water—ice is known to sometimes cause redness; dermatologists don’t recommend directly applying ice on skin. For a new regime, this tool seems like a good add-on, but ask your doctor first.
