Christ Church School (Byculla) striker Afra Shaikh was hit on the forehead by a ball struck powerfully by Lakshdham High School's (Goregaon) defender Malvika Kanady during the Mumbai Schools Sports Association (MSSA)-organised inter-school girls U-16 Division II knockout tournament at Azad Maidan yesterday.
Afra suffered swelling and complained of dizziness.
However, despite being hit, Afra continued playing in her team's 0-3 defeat.
Physiotherapist Dr Neha Raorane rushed to attend to Afra and applied ice on the affected area.
"The swelling on her forehead should be better provided she keeps the ice pack on her forehead," Dr Raorane told mid-day.
Later in the evening, Afra informed that she was much better.
Elizabeth Martin, Anubhuti Pathak and Bhoomi Nagda scored a goal apiece to hand the Goregaon outfit a dominant victory in South Mumbai.
