After both teams were tied 0-0 at the end of regulation time, Bosco skipper Clivert Miller replaced goalkeeper Alric Durate in the shootout. In the tie-breaker, Clivert could not keep Campion’s Malav Fozdar, skipper Joshua Machado and Sanay Doshi at bay although Rayan Badheka and Ansh Ahuja missed their chances.

Meanwhile, Clivert, Flynn D’Cruz, and Fabian Anthony scored for Bosco while Ethan D’Cruz and Atharva Ghatkar missed the target for the Matunga outfit. With both teams were tied at 3-3 for the game to go into sudden death.

In sudden death, Campion’s Jay Maliye made no mistake from the spot while Bosco’s Arthava Jagtap failed to find the back of the net, giving the Cooperage school a memorable win. Campion skipper Joshua Machado, the son of the school principal Paul Machado, said that he could pass out with his head held high.

‘It’s a great feeling’
“I am speechless. The win means a lot to me personally. Being in Class X, this is the last year I represent my school. I really don’t know how to express how I feel after winning the title for the first time for my school and that too as a captain. It is a matter of pride for me,” said 15-year-old Joshua.

Incidentally, Campion coach Wilfred Alva helped Dominic Savio (Andheri) win the title in 1987 as a player. “Campion reached the last four finals but never won. The wait seemed unending. I won this title as a captain nearly three decades ago as a player and today I take back the trophy as a coach.”

Meanwhile, Kamran Siddique’s brace helped Hansraj Moraji (Andheri) beat Don Bosco (Borivli) in the Division II final. They get promoted to Division I for the first time in their 20-year participation of the inter-school tournament.
