Chennai Super Kings: Once five-time champions, now facing five defeats
So far in the IPL 2025, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have suffered five defeats out of six matches. MS Dhoni wore the captaincy hat after the incumbent captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad, was ruled out of the league following an elbow injury. However, the return of the 43-year-old to the captaincy role did little to help, as the side could manage a meagre 103 runs. Dhoni, once regarded as the finest finisher in world cricket, seems to be showing signs of decline, likely influenced by the toll of age

Spinners rule the IPL tracks
Left-arm spinners are enjoying success in the ongoing IPL 2025. CSK's spinner Noor Ahmad has been leading the most-wicket-takers charts with 12 scalps to his name. On the other hand, during Gujarat Titans' matches, Sai Kishore has been controlling the flow of runs, having bagged 10 wickets so far. Kuldeep Yadav continues to shine from the Delhi Capitals’ dugout, playing a crucial role for the side. On the other hand, Mumbai Indians’ Vignesh Puthur has emerged as one of the tournament’s brightest discoveries, dazzling with his magical wristwork

Opening batsmen's show in the league
From Punjab Kings' Priyansh Arya to Sunrisers Hyderabad's Abhishek Sharma, openers have set new standards in the cash-rich league. Arya smashed a 39-ball century, which was the fourth fastest of all time in the league's history. Abhishek, too, registered a score of 141 runs, making it an iconic knock in the league. Sai Sudharsan (GT), Virat Kohli-Phil Salt (Royal Challengers Bengaluru), Travis Head (SRH) and Mitchell Marsh (Lucknow Super Giants) are also playing their roles right in the tournament

Continuous failures of Big Names
So far in the league, only Virat Kohli has been a consistent player from Team India. Except for him, Rohit Sharma and Rishabh Pant are struggling to find themselves among the runs. Pant has been under fire since the start of the IPL 2025, while leading his new franchise, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Rohit, too, has been struggling to convert the starts into big scores and their respective teams would be eager to witness crucial contributions from their willow

KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer's unreal dominance
KL Rahul (DC) and Shreyas Iyer (PBKS) have brought their A-game for their respective teams. So far, in four appearances, KL has garnered 200 runs, whereas Shreyas has accumulated 250 runs in five matches. Their rich vein in form has also hinted at reliable middle-order options for Team India after the conclusion of the league
