The Indian Cricketers' Association (ICA) on Tuesday appointed former Mumbai pacer Pradeep Kasliwal as their representative on the Apex Council of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA).

This will be Kasliwal's re-entry into the MCA after the president Dr Vijay Patil had sacked Kasliwal and Sanjay Patil as senior Mumbai team selectors in 2019.

Kasliwal, 57, will replace Kiran Powar, who had to vacate the seat following the ombudsman order with regards to a conflict of interest complaint.

In an email to MCA, ICA secretary Hitesh Majumdar, said: "You are aware that the Male ICA Representative previously nominated to the current MCA Apex Council has vacated his seat on the MCA Apex Council with effect from 29/12/2021.

"Pursuant to such vacancy, the ICA has decided to nominate Mr Pradeep Kasliwal, member of the MCA Chapter of the ICA, as the Male ICA Representative on the current MCA Apex Council with effect from 12 April, 2022. Kasliwal will serve as the Male ICA Representative on the MCA Apex Council for the remainder of the term of the current MCA Apex Council."

Apart from being a former BCCI match referee, Kasliwal was director of the MCA indoor academy at the Bandra-Kurla Complex. However, just two days before the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament, Dr Patil sacked Kasliwal and Patil over a controversy in team selection. The decision reduced the selection committee, headed by Milind Rege, to three members.
