Mohammed Shami had a dream run in the ICC World Cup 2023 in India last year. He finished off the tournament as the leading wicket-taker with 24 wickets in just seven outings. In the semi-finals of the mega event, He bagged seven wickets against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium. 

As he is still not fully recovered from his ankle injury, he has not been included in the first two test matches against England. After securing a win in the T20Is series against Afghanistan, Team India will lock horns with England at home. The first test match will come into action on January 25. 

Recently, the speedster was honoured with the Arjuna Award by the second-highest sporting honour in the country from the President of India Droupadi Murmu in Delhi.

The pacer is a modern-day great, having picked 448 wickets in 188 international appearances for Men in Blue across all formats.
