Mumbai Indians will face an uphill task against the firepower of Kolkata Knight Riders batters when the teams clash here on Sunday in their IPL contest, with both former champions looking to put their campaigns back on track. While Mumbai Indians were able to break their winless streak in their last game against Delhi Capitals, Kolkata Knight Riders went down fighting on Friday night against Sunrisers Hyderabad in a high-scoring contest at the Eden Gardens.

However, despite winning the previous game, the most successful IPL team, Mumbai Indians, will be under added pressure at the Wankhede Stadium, for they have not been able to harness their potential so far in IPL 2023. With two wins and as many defeats, KKR have had their share of highs and lows and are placed fourth on the points table with a good net run rate (0.711) as compared to Mumbai Indians who are ninth with two points and an NRR of -0.879.

Cameron Green joins Tim David and he gets off the mark with a single. Mumbai complete the 186 chase with 2.2 overs to spare and win the match by five wickets. This is a second consecutive win for Mumbai.

6:58 PM: 177/4 in 16.4 overs

Oh no! Suryakumar Yadav gets caught by Gurbaz off Thakur's delivery. Unfortunately, Yadav couldn't finish off the game for his team. Thakur bowled a cutter from a hard length outside off, and Yadav attempted to ramp it over the keeper. However, he only managed to get a faint edge, and Gurbaz made no mistake in taking the catch. Yadav's innings has come to an end, scoring 43 runs off 25 balls, including 4 fours and 3 sixes.

6:53 PM: 171/3 after 16 overs

Tilak Varma has been dismissed bowled by Suyash Sharma! What a great performance by Sharma. He managed to create immense pressure on Varma, who struggled to read four dot balls and four googlies in a row. Finally, Sharma delivered a flat leg spinner, which spun in slightly and caught the inside edge of Varma's bat. Varma tried to run it down to third, but the ball crashed onto his stumps. With this dismissal, Varma has scored 30 runs off 25 balls, including 3 fours and a six.

6:38 PM: 162/2 after 13 overs

After experimenting with spin bowling for a few overs, Nitish Rana has shifted his focus to the pace of Lockie Ferguson. In the previous game, Rana struggled, but in today's conditions that favour seamers, he may be trying to find his groove. Meanwhile, Surya is gradually regaining his form by hitting the occasional boundary, rotating the strike, and building his innings.

6:25 PM: 131/2 after 13 overs

Suyash Sharma has been impressive in his bowling today, with the batters struggling to read his variations. However, KKR is facing a predicament as the run rate was managed quite comfortably by Rohit and Kishan in the initial overs, leaving little need for batters to take risks against Suyash. On the other hand, this could be a great chance for Surya to find his rhythm and score some runs after his recent slump in form.

6:15 PM: 100/2 after 10 overs

Varun Chakaravarthy strikes at the right time! A crucial wicket for KKR as Kishan was playing aggressively. Chakaravarthy showed courage by bowling full once again, tempting Kishan to slog. This time, however, the ball went just under his bat and hit the pads before deflecting onto the stumps. It was a nice knock by Kishan, but he's now out for 58 off just 25 balls, including 5 fours and 5 sixes.

6:05 PM: 81/1 after 7 overs

Suyash Sharma delivers a beautiful tossed-up ball in line of the stumps, Rohit Sharma tries to play a punchy drive but fails to keep it down. Umesh Yadav at mid-off quickly moves to his left and takes a fantastic diving catch to dismiss Rohit. This wicket is a much-needed breakthrough for Kolkata Knight Riders. Rohit Sharma departs after scoring 20 runs off 13 balls, including 2 sixes and a boundary. He fell victim to Suyash Sharma's brilliant delivery.

5:53 PM: 65/0 after 5 overs

Ishan Kishan appears to be in excellent form as he hits the ball with power to various parts of the field. The pitch looks to be very favorable for batting. The Mumbai Indians have made an outstanding start to this chase. Unfortunately, the new ball bowlers from the Knight Riders are struggling once again. Now, it is up to the spinners to step up and turn the game around.

5:40 PM: 35/0 after 3 overs

MI's Rohit Sharma is set to come in as the Impact sub, which is a positive sign for the team. However, KKR's spin trio of Narine, Chakaravarthy, and Suyash won't be easy to handle on this tacky surface. Venky Iyer has been subbed out and Suyash has come in as the Impact sub for KKR. The next 12 overs are crucial and could determine the outcome of the game. In other news, Meredith has been subbed out for Rohit. Umesh Yadav will start with the new ball.

5:25 PM: 185/6 after 20 overs

Kolkata Knight Riders have posted 185 runs after 20 overs. Venkatesh Iyer has smashed the MI bowlers all over the park today, he was literally unstoppable. Andre Russell's little cameo in the end also helped KKR post this challenging total.

5:13 PM: 171/5 in 18.4 overs

The formidable Andre Russell is batting on 11 off 5 balls alongside Rinku Singh. Mumbai Indians looking to restrict KKR below 180. Venkatesh Iyer has smashed the Mumbai bowling attack all over the park today.

5:08 PM: 159/4 after 17 overs

Venkatesh Iyer has completed his hundred in just 49 balls, what a knock by the left-hander! He is the second batter to score a century for the Kolkata Knight Riders. The first was evergreen Brendon McCullum.

4:44 PM: 124/4 after 13 overs

Wicket! Shardul Thakur gets caught by Tilak Varma bowled by Hrithik Shokeen. Another wicket for MI as the dangerous Shardul Thakur departs, he was never looking in fine rhythm today.

4:35 PM: 111/3 after 11 overs

Venkatesh Iyer batting on 76 off just 34 balls at the moment. He is fire, every boundary and six in the KKR innings have been hit by the left-hander. MI with a serious problem to deal with as Iyer looks in destructive rhythm.

4:15 PM: 73/3 after 8 overs

Another one bits the dust! Nitish Rana gets caught by Ramandeep Singh (subsitute) bowled by Hrithik Shokeen. Kolkata Knight Riders lose their skipper as MI get another one and it is a very important wicket for Mumbai at this moment.

4:07 PM: 57/2 after 6 overs

Rahmanullah Gurbaz gets caught by Jansen off Piyush Chawla's delivery. Mumbai Indians get another wicket as the leggie strikes. Kolkata Knight Riders captain Nitish Rana walks in at number 4 now.

3:50 PM: 39/1 after 4 overs

A back of a length ball by Arjun Tendulkar and Venkatesh Iyer punches it in the gap on the offside for a four. Tendulkar hurriedly charges down the ground and Iyer smashes a six as the ball flies over the long-off fence.

3:37 PM: 15/1 in 2.4 overs

N Jagadeesan gets caught by Hrithik Shokeen, who bends forward to grab a sharp low catch. The batter departs for 0(5). Kolkata Knight Riders off to a bad start as MI's Green gets the first wicket.

3:34 PM: 5/0 after 1 over

Arjun Tendulkar kicks off his IPL debut with a length ball wide of off-stump, changes his length the very next ball and bowls a low full-toss. Gurbaz attempts to fly it over the covers but ends up misdirecting it as the ball flies in the air. The ball lands beyond Tim David's reach, who chases the ball towards mid-off. There is also a massive LBW appeal against Jagadeesan but Mumbai don't opt for a review.

3:30 PM: Match begins!

Rahmanullah Gurbaz(w) and Jagadeesan walk out to kickstart the proceedings at Wankhede as Arjun Tendulkar gets ready to bowl his first ball in IPL.
