After two Apex Council members were disqualified with immediate effect for conflict of interest and tenure-related issues, the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) has called for an emergent meeting of the Apex Council on Wednesday to dwell on the issues of other members on the panel who are also affected by the ruling of the ombudsman.

On December 27, MCA’s ombudsman-cum-ethics officer Justice VK Tahilramani had barred Dr Unmesh Khanvilkar and former first-class cricketer Kiran Powar from attending Apex Council meetings.

Khanvilkar was dismissed on two counts—conflict of interest and tenure. Powar was guilty of conflict of interest. Thereafter, the Apex Council members write to the MCA president Dr Vijay Patil referring to similar cases arising out of the ruling to the ombudsman.

Joint secretary Shah Alam Shaikh is accused of overstaying his term like Khanvilkar. Apex Council members Amit Dani and Samantha Lobato are believed to have conflict of interest issues with their posts.
