Sidak Singh stole the show as the left arm spinner claimed 6 for 71

Rizvi Springfield, Bandra on Saturday made it to the final of the Giles Shield inter-school cricket tournament after they defeated IES VN Sule Guruji by virtue of a first innings lead of 209 runs.

Left-arm spinner Sidak Singh stole the show with six for 71 to restrict the Dadar side to 271 after Rizvi scored 480 in the first innings. VN Sule skipper Shreyas Kemkar waged a lone battle as he scored his first century of the tournament.

Sidak claimed that it was hard work for the bowlers as their counterparts were just not ready to give in. "We obviously were looking to bowl them out, but it wasn't easy to do that on this pitch.

"Kemkar played brilliantly for his century and he was well supported by his partners. They didn't throw away their wickets and we had to toil hard.

"The fact that we required 116 overs to take 10 wickets exemplified their grit and determination," said Sidak, who has taken 25 wickets in four Giles Shield matches.

In the final on Tuesday, defending champions Rizvi will face Anjuman-I-Islam English, who thrashed Don Bosco, Matunga by an innings and 30 runs.

All-rounder Hashir Dafedar, with his off-breaks ended up claiming nine victims in the game including 6 for 47 in the second innings alone.
