The 34-year-old left-hander, who called curtains on his glorious international career on Tuesday, said that the incident had affected players around the world and that it changed the game a little bit, Sydney Morning Herald reported.

Johnson, who wreaked havoc on England batsmen in the 2013-14 season with his short-pitched deliveries, admitted that the tragic incident made him also question whether he was playing in the spirit of the game.

Hughes succumbed to injuries on November 25 last year after being struck by a bouncer during a domestic match in Sydney. The 25-year-old South Australian batsman was knocked out after the ball made impact under his helmet, on the back of the neck.
