MCA minimise to maximise turnout for October 25 ODI

The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) yesterday decided to reduce ticket rates for the October 25 fifth and final one-day international between India and South Africa at Wankhede Stadium.

In its Managing Committee meeting yesterday, the MCA decided on Rs 750 as the minimum ticket price as against Rs 1000. "We want maximum people to come to the stadium and that is why rates have been slashed," Dr Unmesh Khanvilkar, MCA's Joint Honorary Secretary, told

mid-day. Another reason for the reduced rates was the poor turnout during the India vs England ODI in 2011 when only 18,000 spectators witnessed the action in the 33,000-capacity stadium — Wankhede's lowest-ever turnout for an ODI. India won that one-day international by six wickets.
